
Julie Ellen "Tawny" Kitaen (August 5 1961 - May 7, 2021) was an American actress, model and a media personality. Her television acting career began with Malibu (1983), and California Girls (1985). She was also in comedies The Perils of Gwendoline and Bachelor Party (both 1984) in addition to the film of horror Witchboard (1986).    Kitaen was widely recognized due to her role in numerous heavy metal music videos including Ratt's (1984) "Back for More" Whitesnake's ("Still of the Night") and Whitesnake ?Ts ("Is This Love") (all 1987). In the late 2000s, Kitaen began appearing in reality TV shows like Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) which highlighted Kitaen's struggles with substance abuse. Julie Kitaen was the youngest of three children. She was born in San Diego in 1961 to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) who was an actress and former beauty pageant participant , as well as Terry Kitaen who worked for an organization that made neon signs. Kitaen's mother was of Scottish and Irish descent, while her father was Russian-Jewish descent. Kitaen was born Jewish. She was first able to use the name "Tawny" when she was 12 and on her own initiative. As a child she was diagnosed with dyslexia, which led to her to drop out of Mission Bay High School. She was 14 when she went to see Penny Frampton perform at Balboa Stadium. [9]
